I work with small and mid-sized brands — ecommerce sellers, retail startups, food and cosmetics labels — on the unglamorous part of packaging: which box style survives transit, which board weight is worth paying for, and where a finish adds real value instead of just cost. Most of my week goes into turning a rough idea into a dieline, a spec, and a quote that holds up in production.
I came into packaging from IT, not from print. That background is why I approach it the way I do: specs over guesswork, dielines checked before they go to press, and pricing built from the variables that actually drive cost — board, size, quantity, finishing, tooling — rather than a gut number. It is also why the guides on this site lean on measurements, tolerances, and cost drivers instead of adjectives.
Small and mid-sized businesses rarely get that kind of attention from a packaging supplier. They are too small for a dedicated account team and too busy to learn the jargon, so they end up guessing at dimensions and overpaying for options they did not need. Closing that gap is why I write here. Every guide on this blog answers the questions I get asked on real quote calls: what will this cost, what will it do to my shipping, and what happens if I get the dimensions wrong.
